The SBGW259 was introduced in 2020 as part of Grand Seiko's 60th anniversary celebrations, alongside the platinum SBGW257 and yellow-gold SBGW258. The three watches were created as contemporary interpretations of the original 1960 Grand Seiko First.

The SBGW259 faithfully captures the character of the original Grand Seiko while bringing it into the modern era with a larger 38mm case, a stunning blue dial, and Grand Seiko's proprietary Brilliant Hard Titanium. The result is an exceptionally refined watch that combines one of the most important designs in Grand Seiko history with modern materials and mechanical performance. The rich Grand Seiko blue dial gives the watch a distinctly contemporary character while retaining the understated elegance of the 1960 original. Its softly curved profile works beautifully with the vintage-inspired hands and applied markers, creating a watch that feels equally at home dressed up or worn casually. Inside is Grand Seiko's hand-wound Caliber 9S64, a beautifully finished mechanical movement offering an impressive 72-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback, providing an unobstructed view of the mechanical heart of the watch.

This Grand Seiko SBGW259 remains in fantastic, like-new overall condition. The case has never been polished and retains its original sharp factory lines, with only minor surface marks from use. The sapphire exhibition caseback is also in excellent condition. The watch comes with its original titanium three fold clasp along with its original Grand Seiko black leather strap (worn condition). The movement was serviced back in 2023 by the original owner and is currently running within Grand Seiko standards at +4 seconds/day. The watch comes with its original box.
