In 1957, Piaget introduced the 9P caliber. At a mere 2mm thickness, it claimed the title of the thinnest manual-wound movement for wristwatches and enabled the creation of larger cases. This breakthrough paved the way for slim and elegant designs. Piaget, recognizing the creative potential of these ultra-thin movements, kept them exclusive to its watches, particularly those crafted from precious metals.

Fast forward to 1963, Piaget expanded its horizons with the introduction of its inaugural stone collection, featuring vibrant lapis lazuli, jade, opal, malachite, tiger's eye, and black onyx. Unlike traditional methods using paint or lacquer, each stone dial was unique, adding to the sense of exclusivity. Initially, Piaget operated as a relatively small entity, offering bespoke stone dial watches through a customization service that allowed clients to choose from an extensive array of dials, bezels, bracelets, cases, and finishes. The woven patterned white gold case is in great condition and has likely never been polished before as retains its thick profile. The case comes in at a great size at 24mm by 29mm and this reference was originally produced for men in mind but could work well on a lady. The original black Onyx stone dial with diamond indices is flawless with no cracks or blemishes. The dauphine hands and crown are all original and is in excellent condition. The movement has been serviced in December 2023 and is currently running at +9 seconds per day. The watch comes with a generic black saffiano calf strap as well as with its original Piaget signed white gold buckle.
