This watch needs no introduction. Inspired by the Renault tanks that the French jeweler saw in battle on the Western Front during the first World War, the Tank has been the foundation of Cartier since 1917. This example is the Tank released as part of the Must de Cartier line that the French maison first introduced in 1977. The watch paid tribute to the original Tank Louis Cartier and was launched with more than a dozen different dial options, like dark black or red and even a striped pattern, or three shades of gold. This example is the highly coveted Blue  lacquer dial (reminiscient of a Lapis Lazuli dial) Must Tank SM size featuring a manual wind movement.

Overall, this piece is in excellent condition. The case has few stratches as can be expected from a watch of this age but retains its beautiful edges. All the hallmarks are very crisp on the case and caseback. The original blue lacquer dial is in overall clean condition. Some gold spots can be seen throughout the dial due to the lacquer fading. This gold gives it a star like effect to the midnight blue painted lacquer making it a very unique and beautiful dial. The original hands are in good condition but the minute hand is slightly bent at the tip. The blue spinel cabochon is in great shape. The manual wind movement was last serviced in April 2022 and is currently running at +4.1 sec/day. This Cartier Must Tank comes as a full set with its original box, booklet case, world wide guarantee card, Must de Cartier instruction manuals. The guarantee card has matching serials and is signed by the original retailer in Hawaii. The watch also comes with its original Cartier Must Tank black leather strap along with its original gold plated buckle.
