Here we have a seemingly straightforward dress watch from the Golden era of dress watches, the 1970's. The white gold case measures a mere 5.4mm thin, thanks to the ultra slim manual wind caliber P838. Introduced in 1962, the 18 jewel 838 movement was also used by Cartier, Chopard and IWC. It was famously used in the Cartier Tank Louis ultra slim dress watches in the 60's and 70's that predated the ultra slim Frederique Piguet movement Tank Louis watches that would follow in the 80's and 90's.

Overall this vintage JLC stepped case dress watch in white gold is in great vintage condition. The case is strong and the edges on the stepped case remains sharp with the beautiful lines still prominent. It has some minor scratches which is expected on a watch this age. The lugs are sharp and is in excellent condition. The original silver sun ray dial is in overall clean condition for its age with some minor blemishes which is visible in the pictures. The hand set and applied index on the dial shows some aging but is in great condition for its age. The crystal is clean with no major scratches.

The watch comes with a steel JLC signed buckle which is in excellent condition. The ultra thin caliber P838 was serviced on June 2023 and is currently running at -9.8  seconds / day. The watch comes with a black epsom calf grained strap from Jones in Tokyo.
