In the 1980s, the Vendome L.C. was introduced as a bridge between Cartier’s heritage and contemporary design. Like other Must de Cartier watches of that period, its origins trace back to Louis Cartier’s early sketches. According to legend, one evening in the roaring twenties, Louis Cartier noticed a detail on a carriage harness that sparked his imagination. This led to the concept of a watch where the strap would be connected to the case at twelve o’clock by two knuckles—a design principle later known as the "knuckle" watch. However, it wasn't until 1933 that he brought this idea to life in a timepiece, which ultimately inspired the Vendome L.C. of the 1980s. In the 1990s, Cartier expanded the Vendome collection with new variations, including the Vendome Trinity. This model featured a distinctive triple-stepped round case made from a harmonious blend of yellow, white, and rose gold. The small-sized version, designed for women, was the reference 81004. The Trinity Vendome exemplifies why Cartier is often hailed as the "master of shapes." The maison’s remarkable ability to create unconventional, boundary-pushing designs continues to captivate and astonish, solidifying its place in horological history.

This Cartier Vendome Trinity in 18K YG, WG, and PG is in overall vintage condition. The round triple stepped gold case is strong and is in fantastic condition. The case has very light scratches throughout but has most likely never been polished before. For a Cartier from this era, the case is in excellent condition. The dial is the original white lacquered dial which has no blemishes or cracks. The quartz caliber was recently serviced with a new battery installed in March 2025. The watch comes with its original Cartier leather strap that was used by the previous owner and is in worn condition but is still wearable. It also comes with its original Cartier gold plated tang buckle. The watch comes with its original inner box, booklet holder, certificate of guarantee, and all its papers including the Vendome booklet.
