In 1912, Louis Cartier designed the original tortoise-inspired watch, the Tortue. At a time when most watches were round, its accented form and unprecedented design went on to shape a classic of Cartier watchmaking.

This is the highly sought after CPCP (Cartier Paris Collection Privee) Tortue LM (large size) in Platinum. The time-only Tortue was produced in yellow gold, pink gold, and platinum. The platinum (like all other platinum CPCP models) had the smallest production number followed by the pink gold with yellow gold being by far the most common out of the three. The dial of the watch is wonderfully executed with all the collector favorite CPCP code present including a subtle guilloché pattern dial with a rossete motif in the center, black painted Roman numerals, the chemin-de-fer minute track, and the beautiful flame-blued Breguet hands. The Tortue also has a clear case back which allows you to marvel at the beauty of the hand wound 437MC caliber which was based on a Piaget movement.

Overall, this Tortue is in great condition. The watch was actively used by the original owner and the case has some minor bumps that are barely noticeable. The case maintains its original beautiful curves and line. The dial is also flawless with no blemishes. The watch comes with its original black alligator leather strap and white gold Cartier deployant clasp. This CPCP platinum tortue comes from its original owner and as a complete set with its original mahogany Cartier Paris Collection Privée red leather box, outer box, red booklet sleeve, guarantee booklet and instruction manual, as well as a wood loupe box and Cartier loupe. The guarantee booklet is stamped and numbered confirming it was originally sold in 2006 in Nagoya, Japan at the Matsuzakaya department store. The movement was just serviced by Cartier in August 2022. There is a full 2 year movement warranty remaining by Cartier.
