In 1912, Louis Cartier designed the original tortoise-inspired watch, the Tortue. At a time when most watches were round, its accented form and unprecedented design went on to shape a classic of Cartier watchmaking.

This is the highly sought after CPCP (Cartier Paris Collection Privee) Tortue LM (large size) in yellow gold. The time-only Tortue was produced in yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum. The platinum (like all other platinum CPCP's) had the smallest production number followed by the rose gold with yellow gold. The dial of this watch is wonderfully executed with all the collector favorite CPCP code present including a subtle guilloché pattern dial with a rossete motif in the center, black painted Roman numerals, the chemin-de-fer minute track, and the beautiful flame-blued Breguet hands. The Tortue also has a clear case back which allows you to marvel at the beauty of the hand wound 437MC caliber which was based on a Piaget movement.

This yellow gold CPCP Tortue is presented in exceptional overall condition. The case remains unpolished and shows only light surface wear consistent with its age, retaining its original lines and strong appearance. The guilloché white dial is beautifully preserved, free from any notable blemishes, spotting, or discoloration. The watch is fitted with a brown Cartier leather strap and accompanied by its original yellow gold deployant clasp. Included with the watch are its original CPCP mahogany presentation box (showing wear and missing the watch cushion), instruction booklet, and the original guarantee card stamped by a Cartier boutique and dated 2004.
