In 1917, inspired by the new Renault tanks which were in use on the Western Front, Louis Cartier designed the Tank. Its lines and proportions are therefore similar to those of tanks found on First World War battlefields; rectangular with its strap seamlessly integrated into vertical sidebars called "brancards". In existance for over 100 years, the Tank is a truly timeless watch and its no surprise that it has been worn by celebrities long before watch companies had "Brand ambassadors." Cartier continues to include the Tank Louis Cartier in its current collection, which speaks to the enduring appeal of this classic dress watch from the Paris maison.

This piece we have on offer is the highly sought after CPCP (Cartier Paris Collection Privee) Tank Louis in platinum. It is an early CPCP Tank Louis without the central rosette motif on the dial. The platinum Tank Louis were produced in very limited numbers and most collectors estimate that less than 150 CPCP TLC platinum models were produced during the series' ten year run.

Overall, this Tank Louis is in excellent condition. The case is in beautiful, unpolished shape and retains its original edge and curves. The dial is also flawless. The watch comes with a black leather Cartier strap as well as its original white gold Cartier stamped deployant clasp. The movement was recently serviced in early 2019 by the previous owner. It is in fully working order. The watch comes with its CPCP red leather mahogany box, outer box sleeve, red inner booklet, and instruction manual.
