The Cartier "Tank Basculante" was launched in 1932 one year after JLC introduced the Reverso. Both the Reverso and Basculante were produced by Spécialités Horlogères SA, a subsidiary of JLC. Paying tribute to the original model from the 1930’s, this particular Basculante was part of the “I Love Cartier” collection from 1997 that celebrated the 150th anniversary of Cartier and was limited to just 150 pieces. Under the sapphire crystal of this special Basculante is an attractive two-tone silvered dial, guilloche in the center, signed Cartier Paris, with painted numerals, inner minute track, and blued steel hands. And who could forget the ruby (you know it’s special when there’s a ruby). For the movement, it employs the Fréderique Piguet based manual wind caliber 610. As part of the same collection, Cartier released another Basculante with Arabic numerals and clear case back as well (limited to just 15 pieces).
This full set Basculante is in great unpolished condition. It underwent a full service by Cartier in June 2020 and comes with the Cartier Japan service papers. It is a one owner watch purchased in Japan.
