This special watch we have on offer is the Tank Américaine in Platinum from the Collection Privee Cartier Paris (CPCP) series. Platinum is the precious metal reserved for the most elusive watches, and this Tank originally sold in 2006 was no exception. Although not strictly numbered, the platinum Tank Américaine from the CPCP series most likely had just a couple of production cycles during the CPCP, which ran from 1998 to 2008, and in all likelyhood there were less than 200 made.

The Tank Américaine, first introduced in 1989, could be thought of as the modernized version of the Tank Cintrée. Despite the case having the same slim and curved features of the Cintrée, it has a more substantial size in response to the market asking for larger watches. As a result, the Tank Américaine was a modern wristwatch that had a more masculine feel than the Cintrée. A milestone in the evolution of the Tank, the Tank Américaine was the very first curved Tank watch from Cartier to be designed with a water resistant case. The model was initially developed for the American market, hence its name.

This CPCP version of the platinum Tank Américaine employs a Piaget based manual wind movement, the caliber 430 MC. The dial, made of 18k gold, has a stunning guilloché pattern along with Cartier's signature Roman numerals and blue steel sword hand. The cream white dial also has “PARIS” inscribed underneath the brand name, which is one of the central motifs for all CPCP models and what makes them so collectible.

Overall, this piece is in excellent condition. There are minor hairlines on the case but the case was never polished. It underwent a complete servicing in July 2021, and is in full working order. The watch comes with a red leather Cartier strap (worn condition) along with its original Cartier stamped white gold deployant buckle. This watch comes as a full set with the coveted CPCP mahogany wood box with (both inner and outer box) as well as the red leather inner booklet sleeve, guarantee booklet, and CPCP user manual.
