This is a very special example of the Cartier Santos-Dumont "Extra Flat" dated to the 1980's. The case measures 36mm by 27mm, height by width. The most notable feature of this Santos Dumont is the 4.3mm thickness, about 2mm thinner than the standard Santos, thanks, in part, to the Cartier signed Fred Piguet caliber 21 "ultra-thin" movement inside. The 18k gold case has developed a very attractive patina due to oxidization- a very pleasing feature of a vintage Cartier. The case condition on this Santos Dumont is excellent with the original bevels and case geometry in tact and the hall marks perfectly crisp.

This Santos-Dumont is in overall excellent condition. The case is strong and it has light scratches throughout as can be expected from a watch of this age. The finishing on the  surfaces are well-preserved, and the bevels are clearly present on the sides of the case. The dial is in overall great condition with no visible blemishes or discoloration. As is common with vintage Cartier's from this era, there are cracks throughout the original white lacquer dial - visible at an angle and on our pictures. If the purchaser would like to have the dial replaced, we can take this to Cartier and have them replace it for an added fee (although we highly recommend not to do this). The Piguet Cal 21 movement has been checked by our watchmaker and is currently running well at -13.4 seconds per day. The watch comes with its Cartier outer/inner box, booklet holder, booklet, and guarantee (unsigned).
