Out of all the Must Tank variations that were produced during Cartier’s Must Tank era, the Art Deco Tank is undoubtedly one of the most loved and revered by Cartier enthusiasts. The Must de Cartier Tank Art Deco was a limited edition release with just 1000 pieces produced in the SM and LM size. This wonderful example we have on hand comes is the highly desirable and collectible LM size which was produced for men.

The Art Deco Tank was originally released in 1995 as a tribute to the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts held in 1925. The event held in Paris, attracted thousands of visitors and was seen as a major turning point in the world of design as it introduced to the world the new style moderne of architecture, interior decoration, furniture, glass, jewelry and other decorative arts. It remains an important moment in the history of decorative arts and continues to inspire and influence designers and artists today.

Overall, this Cartier Tank Art Deco ref 1616 is in excellent condition. The solid silver case has some minor scratches is in great shape and retains its beautiful original edges. All the hallmarks are very crisp on the case and caseback as well. The original Art Deco dial is in clean condition with some aging and blemishes throughout the dial (and can be seen on the photos). The original hands as well as the blue spinel cabochon is in fantastic shape. The quartz movement was serviced in December 2024 by the previous owner and has a new battery installed.  The watch comes with a new green epsom leather strap as well as its original Cartier steel deployant clasp. The watch also comes with its original Art Deco limited edition box and certificate of guarantee but is missing its Art Deco booklet.
