This watch needs no introduction. Inspired by the Renault tanks that the French jeweler saw in battle on the Western Front during the first World War, the Tank has been the foundation of Cartier since 1917. This example is the Tank released as part of the Must de Cartier line that the French maison first introduced in 1977. The watch paid tribute to the original Tank Louis Cartier and was launched in more than a dozen different dial options like dark black, red and even a striped pattern, or three shades of gold. This example we have on offer is the ivory colored Must Tank featuring beautiful Roman numerals. This Must Tank is the LM (large size) which was marketed for men's.

Overall, this Tank is in great vintage condition. The gold plated Vermeil case is in good condition with some scratches as can be expected from a watch from this age. There is some oxidation and patina that has developed throughout the gold plated case which gives the watch character. All the hallmarks are very crisp on the case and caseback. The original ivory colored dial is in overall clean condition with the Roman numerals in crisp shape. The crystal has some scratches and a small crack on the upper left corner. The original blued steel hands and blue spinel cabochon is in excellent shape. The quartz movement service history is unknown but a new battery was installed in June 2024 and the watch is working flawlessly. This Cartier Must Tank comes with a very special Japan made gold plated stretch bracelet (not from Cartier or original to this watch).
